What kind of food do you serve at Knuckles?
Italian at heart, but not particularly traditional.
Our small seasonal menu takes inspiration from Italian cooking, French cooking and North American classics, and honestly, whatever we feel like eating. Comfort food, good ingredients and plenty of things to share.
Should I reserve or just walk in?
We always recommend reserving. Knuckles is a small restaurant, and our tables fill up quickly.
We don’t hold tables specifically for walk-ins, but whenever we have room, we’re always happy to welcome you.
What’s a panzerotto?
A panzerotto is essentially a small fried calzone: dough folded around a filling, then fried until it’s crispy on the outside and soft and piping hot on the inside.
It’s an Italian classic and a big part of what we do at Knuckles.
How many dishes should we order?
Our menu is made for sharing. For two people, a few dishes and a panzerotto are usually a good starting point.
You don’t need to decide on your whole meal right away. Order a few dishes, share and add more as you go. Our team will happily help you find the right amount for your appetite.
Do you have vegetarian options?
Yes! Several dishes on our menu are vegetarian, with enough choice to put together a full meal.
Do you have vegan options?
Yes, but the choices are more limited. We can generally offer something or adapt certain dishes, although our menu isn’t specifically designed around a vegan diet.
Just let us know you’re vegan, and we’ll guide you through the options.
How can I reserve for a group of more than 8?
For groups of more than 8 people, write to us through the Contact us section of our website.
We’ll get back to you with our availability and all the details for larger groups.
Is there a time limit on my reservation?
Reservations for 2 to 4 people are generally scheduled for 2 hours, while larger groups have 2 hours and 30 minutes.
For reservations from 8:30 PM onward, there’s no time limit. Settle in and enjoy the evening.
Are all your wines private imports?
Yes, absolutely all of them. Every wine on our list is a private import, so you won’t find these bottles on SAQ shelves.
Why is it called Knuckles?
Long story short, the original idea was to open a gnocchi bar. We believe the word gnocchi comes from nocca, meaning “knuckle” in Italian, in reference to their shape.
The concept changed, but the name stayed. Matt decided to keep it because our panzerotti look like little closed fists. Different dish, same idea.
Who’s Nonna?
Nonna is Matt’s grandmother, Carmela Lanave Morganti. A loving mother and grandmother who loved hosting, with LOTS of food.
She cooked everything from scratch, every day, and Matt grew up watching her in the kitchen. Her love of cooking and feeding people is part of the foundation Knuckles was built on.
When did Knuckles open?
We opened in 2020, in a former neighbourhood convenience store in Villeray. What began with Nonna’s panzerotti grew with chef Vincent’s cooking and gradually became the little restaurant Knuckles is today.
